"Amazon, the corporation that wants to be the entire the retail economy, has announced layoffs of 14,000 workers. It projects shedding 600,000 by 2033 as it invests billions in AI-based automation.
UPS is dropping 48,000 workers;
Nestle 16,000;
Microsoft 9,000;
Boeing 17,000 - to mention just a few.
What I find remarkable isn't the scale. It's the complacency. It is accepted as normal that workers can be used as ballast to throw overboard in order to keep shareholder value humming."
